Meet: Ben and Alicia Johnson, Peace of Mind Recipients

At Valentine Roofing, our mission is to serve and care for our neighbors. Through our Peace of Mind Program, we strive to give back to our Pacific Northwest neighbors in need. When we heard about Ben and Alicia Johnson’s situation, we knew we had the opportunity to make a difference. With the help of 100.7 The Wolf, we were honored to provide this deserving family with a brand-new roof.
Ben Johnson dedicated nearly a decade of his life to military service, only to face the hardship of an honorable medical discharge. Following his transition to civilian life, Ben found employment and has been working for almost 10 years at his current job. However, due to union negotiations, he faced several months without work, which put a financial strain on his family.
Meanwhile, their roof was rapidly deteriorating, accumulating mold and water damage, creating an unsafe environment for their household. With limited resources and an urgent need for repairs, the Johnsons were in a difficult position.
Working together with 100.7 The Wolf, Valentine Roofing surprised Ben and Alicia with the news that Valentine Roofing would be replacing their roof at no cost. We wanted to honor Ben for his dedicated service and ensure that his family could have a safe and healthy home. It was an emotional and heartfelt moment, knowing that we could lift this burden off their shoulders and bring them the relief they truly deserved.
Project Specs
For their home, the Johnsons selected Owens Corning Duration shingles in Williamsburg Gray, a durable and stylish choice that will protect their home for years to come. Our team at Valentine Roofing installed 23 squares of shingles on a 6/12 pitch roof, along with one layer of plywood for added structural integrity. To ensure full protection, we also added ice and water shields around all roof penetrations, the chimney, and skylights. We took care to protect the landscaping and a shed in their backyard and installed six bird block screens. Additionally, we replaced the B-Vent storm collar and flashing, ensuring the new roof would withstand the elements.
After the project was completed, Alicia shared how amazed she was at how quickly and efficiently the work was done. Both Ben and Alicia expressed immense gratitude, relieved that their home was finally safe from leaks, mold, and further damage. Knowing they no longer had to worry about their roof gave them true peace of mind, which is exactly why we created this program—to support those who have served our communities and give back in meaningful ways.
At Valentine Roofing, we are incredibly proud to support our neighbors through the Peace of Mind Program, and we extend our deepest thanks to 100.7 The Wolf for helping us bring this project to life. If you know a family in need of a free roof replacement, we encourage you to nominate them for our Peace of Mind Program at https://www.valentineroof.com/about/community .
