Design with Pacific Wave, the Color of the Year

Each year a color emerges as the industry favorite in the home improvement market and this sets a tone and for which styles and trends many homeowners will choose in their design process. In 2020, the shingle color of the year chosen by our industry partner Owens Corning is “Pacific Wave” which features blue and grey hues which are calming yet bold and pair with a variety of colors like yellow, beige, and green to name a few.

Pacific Wave is widely appealing and versatile allowing it to complement and enhance both classic and emerging interior and exterior styles. The pale blue and grey mixture in the shingle help to add depth and contrast while easily achieving a calming coastal or strong stately style aesthetic.

We just completed a new project in Seattle that perfectly exemplifies the Pacific Wave theme. Our team installed new Duration Designer shingles (Pacific Wave) as well as new seamless aluminum 5k gutters in blue. The homeowner also opted to replace the old attic insulation with new synthetic blown-in insulation from Owens Corning which will upgrade the home’s energy efficiency greatly. The coastal cottage style helps to create an open and bright living environment and tends to make nearly any home feel larger while keeping the coziness at the core.

Pairing the cool blue hues of the Pacific Wave roof shingle with the new blue gutters, bright white paint on the exterior of the house, and freshly painted vibrant blue siding brings the entire theme and esthetic of this home together in a beautiful way, creating the perfect coastal cottage aesthetic.

Our team also just finished installing new Duration Pacific Wave roof shingles and new 6k gutters in white on this gorgeous Gig Harbor home. The Johnson’s are in the process of updating their home and repainting the exterior with a new cool grey color scheme which will pair beautifully with the new Pacific Wave roof shingles and new white gutters. They also opted to replace their three old skylights with new skylights from TAM.

The shed style movement was spawned in the 60’s and 70’s and features modern dynamic, geometric elements throughout as well as large windows and skylights. Vertical or diagonal siding is often used and neutral color tones are most common among shed style houses. Other natural elements are often included in the design such as stone and wood with a modern touch of metal. Shed style homes blend the best elements of modern architecture with a classic aesthetic that fits perfectly into our Northwest landscape. Once painting is completed we’ll be checking back soon to see the final reveal of the Johnson’s project.
